In 1957, at an Ohio agricultural convention, Joe and Ruth Zorn had the pleasure of tasting some extraordinary fare, including Barbeque Ribs. Ruth, an ardent lover of good food and always curious about new flavors, struck up a conversation with the man responsible for the tastiest ribs she had ever eaten.
The tender and juicy ribs were infused with a unique blend of flavors, and she couldn’t resist asking the man for his secret: the recipe for that divine barbeque sauce. To her delight, he gladly shared the ingredients and his special technique, explaining how he achieved that perfect balance of flavors.
With this newfound knowledge and a taste for something extraordinary, Ruth and Joe returned home. Ruth’s mind swirled with ideas on incorporating barbeque ribs into their menu at Zorn’s. They didn’t take long to recreate new magic in the Zorn kitchen. Using the oven instead of a grill, they carefully roasted the ribs to tender perfection, basting them generously with their own interpretation of the sauce that had captured Ruth’s heart.
The store’s aroma, a tantalizing blend of spices and roasting ribs, was irresistible. Soon, they became known for their signature barbeque ribs, and customers were eager to try them!
Before they knew it, what had started as a simple encounter at a convention had blossomed into a beloved tradition. Over the years, they perfected their recipe, fine-tuning the sauce and mastering the art of oven roasting to ensure each batch was as mouthwatering as the last.
Today, the legacy of those first ribs lives on in every bite served at Zorn’s. Our ribs are not Smoked; they are oven-roasted in our very special barbeque sauce. They are meticulously hand-fileted and prepared, oven-roasted to tender perfection, and generously coated with our special sauce inspired by what Ruth discovered all those years ago.
